Kick off your shoes and join people of all ages and backgrounds for Dance Away - Three hours of music designed to encourage creative movement, vigorous physical exercise and joyous emotional release. Dance Away is Santa Barbara's non-profit community-based alternative to the unhealthy atmospheres and ear-crushing sounds of today's night clubs. Similar venues in other areas are called, "barefoot boogie", "barefoot dance" and "freestyle dance". Near Goleta, Isla Vista, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Montecito, Camarillo and Summerland.
A typical night at Dance Away starts at 7:30 with New Age and ambient sounds, heats up with a mixture of Pop/Rock and World Music, and takes off with twenty minutes of live drumming
open to the
community. (Hand drums only, no sticks please.)
From 9:30 to 10:30 variety is the key. Rock, Old School, and Hip-Hop; Disco to Techno; New Age to New Wave; African, Latin, Middle Eastern Waltz and more. Our DJs offer something for everyone.
So come shake off a week's worth of stress in a smoke and alcohol-free environment with no dress code and no partners necessary. Check your inhibitions at the door. It's been going strong since 1978! It's Dance Away!
