Creating a blank and transparent .gif's

When creating a graphic from scratch, you will almost always need to start with a blank or transparent .gif. You can either look for one that someone else has, use one that you have stored ... or you can make one from scratch.

  1. Leave the box where you usually enter the URL of the image you want to work with empty:
    URL:

Press to your image or the form.
  2. Scroll down to the section for inputting Optional Input Attributes
  3. You will usually want to change the width to something like 500 or so and reduce it latter to get better resolution. Change Implicit to gradient. In the Meta box, enter Implicit to black-black (or any other color name)
    Size Format

    Meta Interlace

    Scene Channel
  4. Note: If you try to enter a new URL after doing this, ou need to change gradient back to Implicit or you will get an error message.
  5. Click Submit. If this is the size and color, output the resulting image as .gif now.
  6. If you want it transparent, use the paint function with Paint Type set to Matte and Color set to None
