13. Deleting Multiple Addresses When Forwarding E-mail

Most of us receive email which has been forwarded to many addresses besides our own. When we want to forward this email to someone else, we would like to delete all the previous addresses on the email before forwarding it. The trouble is, by the very nature of forwarding, we are forced to include all the previous addresses.

Here's how to cure the problem.

The first thing to remember is this: If you want to "forward" an email, you will forward all of the included addresses. Since this is what you want to avoid, you can't use the "Forward" function of the email system. Instead, you must first copy the part of the email you want to forward by using CCP, (or cut, copy, and paste.)

See article #1 in this website for instructions on how to CCP.

Once you have copied the text you want to send, go to Mail, and then choose Write on the left sidebar. Place the "highlight box" over the word "To", and choose the addresses you want to send the message or joke to.

Next, move your cursor into the empty email body, and "paste" the text.

Then tab down to "Send", and your email has been sent... minus all those annoying addresses.

Here's the drawback.

Using the method described above will work only for plain text. It will not work for pictures, images, sounds, or any other "attachments." If you feel you simply MUST forward that cute little picture, there is now a way to do it, and it's quite simple!

Go ahead and click on the attachment and open it. Then, while you are viewing the picture, press the Send key on your keyboard. (If you don't have a Send key, press the Options key and choose Send from the choices there.)

You will get a popup which has a box where you can type an email address. But, you can use your left arrow key and move your cursor over the word To:, press your Return key, and your address book will appear, allowing you to choose an email address from it.

You may then choose to simply send the image, or you may click on Edit message if you want to type a message to be included along with the image you are about to send.

The ability to send attachments in this manner came in late May of 2003, and is welcomed with great enthusiasm by the WebTV community.
