Navigating the Sig Box
The signature box, or "sig box" can be a useful tool for adding information to your emails and to your posts to newsgroups.
The sig box can be found by choosing Mail, and then Settings. After clicking onto Settings, your next screen will show Signature, among other things. Click onto Signature.
There are many things which can be displayed in your sig box. You can display your name, your email address, or a website address. All this will be shown as text at the bottom of your email.
You can type a lot of information into the sig box, and you are not limited to the size of the "text box" which appears when you click on Signature. Your text can quite long. The sig box will "expand" to accomodate the required text.
HTML coding can also be entered into your sig box. HTML codes are used to add graphics and/or music to your emails. I will not go into the intracasies of html coding at this time, but I will list some good places to visit if you want to learn html coding. Those will be found at the bottom of this page.
To navigate the sig box, you should know that the "arrow" keys are the only ones you should use when trying to move your cursor around in the sig box. Using the Return key or scroll keys will place "unwanted blank spaces" into your sig box. Avoid doing this at all cost!
However, when entering text into your sig box, you may want to use the Return key to achieve certain results. An example can be shown in my own sig box, which appears like this:
As Always,
Tex
My Help Page for WebTV users:
HelpPage
After the words As Always, I wanted to "skip" to the next line, so I hit the Return key once to place Tex on the next line.
I then hit Return twice to create the blank line between Tex and My Help Page..."
I hit Return once, after the word users so that my website address would appear on the next line.
After you have begun experimenting with html coding in your sig box, you may find that you wish to delete everything in the box and start over. If that ever happens to you (it will), there is an easy way to clear your sig box.
Simply go to your sig box, and while viewing it, press and hold down the CMD key and press the letter A. This will highlight everything in the box. Next, hold down CMD and press X. This will delete everything in your sig box. You now have a "clean slate", and can start anew!
