39. How to Find Your Post in a Newsgroup

Tired of scrolling down page after page, trying to find your own post? There's a much faster way to find your post (or anyone else's.)

Use the Find key!

Press Find on your keyboard. Or press Options and then select Find. There are two different things you can enter into the text box, after you hit the Find key.

1. You may enter your email name, but only if you do not have a "nickname" after it. In other words, the name which shows up when you post is the name you want to enter into the box.

2. You may enter a word or words which are unique to the subject line of your post.

After you have entered your name or text into the box, press the Return key. If the words are found on the page you are viewing, you will be taken to that "match" and it will be highlighted. If this is NOT the post you were looking for, hold down the CMD key and press the letter G. This will take you to the next occurrence of the word(s you entered. If there are no matches on the page, you will see the message "Could not find word on this page."

If your word(s) did not match, click onto "Scroll to bottom." When you are at the bottom of the page, click onto the + (plus) sign, and go on to the next page. Wait for the next page to fully load, and then hold down the CMD key and press the letter G again. Repeat the above procedure for each page until you find your post!
