43. My PIP is Blue! (Picture in Picture) - Help!

This information is only for users of the WebTV PlusŪ systems, which allow the use of PIP, or Picture in Picture.

Many times, after an upgrade, after your WebTV has been unplugged, or after you have been browsing TV listings, you will notice that when you try to use the PIP feature, the little window no longer has a TV picture, but just a solid blue screen. You may hear nothing but static along with the blue screen.

While there can be more than one cause of this, the most common is that your original "settings" somehow got changed. The remedy for this is really quite simple. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Go to Web Home

2. Click on TV Home

3. Select Settings

4. Select Channels

Using your Arrow keys, place your "yellow highlight box" over Channel #3.

Without clicking on Done or anything else, back out of there using your Back key.

Be sure not to move your cursor, or yellow highlight box off of the Channel 3 before you back out.

Now, go to Web Home and try your PIP.

If it still doesn't work, repeat all of the above steps, but this time, use Channel 4.

Also, be sure that if your TV is not cable-ready, you have the TV tuning knob set to the same channel as you have used in the above procedure!

If your "blue screen" still persists, it may be due to a "hookup," or cable-routing problem.

If that's the case, you might want to try this method of hooking up your cables:

Hook the incoming coax cable into the IN of the VHF/UHF connections on the back of your WebTV box. Then, use another short coax cable from the OUT of WebTV into the coax connector on the back of the TV.

Then using the RCA color-coded cables included with your unit, run the YELLOW one from yellow video OUT of your WebTV to the Video IN (which should also be yellow on the TV.)

Run the WHITE and RED ones from the Audio OUT of the same colors on your WebTV to the corresponding Audio INs of the TV.

This worked for me. Hope it helps you!
