45. How to Add Page Breaks

In your PageBuilding efforts, you have probably chosen "Add an Item" on several occasions. Is this correct?

Each time you chose "Add an Item," you made a place where a "page break" can be inserted. In other words, a page break can go in between any of the "added items."

~Here's how to place a Page Break~

Go to PageBuilder and click on the page to which you want to add a page break.

Click on "Change Page."

After it is fully loaded, and the yellow light quits flashing, begin to scroll down. You will note that your "yellow highlight box" will be shown surrounding each "added item."

As you scroll down, decide at which point, or in other words, between which two added items would be a good place to insert a page break.

After you decide where the page break should go, click on the "added item" which is immediately AFTER where you want to put the page break. (When the yellow highlight box is surrounding the item you want to click on, press the Return key.)

Now, when that one item has finished loading, scroll all the way to the bottom and look in the bottom left-hand corner. You will see something like "Item 14 (of 28)" and immediately below that are the words "move up" and "move down."

If, for example, it said "item 14 (of 28)," then you will want to move your page break to "item 13 of 28." (Remember that you have clicked onto the added item immediately AFTER where you want to put the page break. Therefore, you want your page break to come immediately BEFORE that item #14.)

Don't move anything yet. Just click on Done (in the bottom, right hand corner.)

Next, after the contents are fully loaded, choose Add an Item. Then, select Page Break. And finally, click on Done.

After the contents are again fully loaded,
scroll all the way down to where you have just added the Page Break.

Click on the Page Break that you just added.

Next, click on "move up" at the bottom left corner, and begin tapping or holding down your Return key to cause the item (page break) to begin to "move."

Once you arrive at "13 of 28", stop and click on Done!

Next, you will want to choose Publish, if it is a page that you want to be made public.

You may add as many page breaks as you like. A good rule of thumb is to have a page break after every four or five images, depending on the file size of those images. If you are unsure of the "size" of your images, or if they load very slowly, then put a page break after every four images.

Now, if you have no images whatsoever, and only text and such, follow the same procedure as above, with the following exception.....

If you have only chosen "Add an Item" just one time, and simply have a massive amount of text, you should then follow the following procedure.

Locate the place in the text where you would like to place a page break. Then, using c/c/p, highlight and copy all of the text which you want to appear on the second page. (If you don't know how to use c/c/p, or "cut, copy, and paste," see Article #1 on this website.)

Once you have the text copied, scroll to the bottom and choose Done.

Next, choose Add an Item.

From the list, choose Page Break.

Click Done again.

Now, select Add an Item again.

This time, choose Text.

Now that you are viewing a "text box," you can paste the previously copied text into the new box, using CMD+V. This text will be on "page 2" of your website. Be sure to use the lower, larger text box, unless you want to "title" your text, as I have "titled" this page!

Click on Done and then choose Publish from the left sidebar.

Hope these guidelines help!
